“We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.”

Immanuel Kant

We dream of a world where animal shelters are a thing of the past, where all companion animals can live out their lives in loving homes.  We aspire to this vision and seek to eliminate the structures and systems that bring animals into the shelters in the first place.  With the belief that removing these barriers will ensure better, longer lives for these animals, the John R. Peterson Foundation invests it resources to bring about lasting change.

Strategies

Spay and Neuter

Spaying and neutering of animals is a cornerstone of reducing their homelessness, and increasing their life and longevity. We support efforts that increase greater community participation in spay and neuter programs.

Veterinary Services

Preventive veterinary care improves the long-term outlook for an animal’s living condition. We support programs that address disease prevention and treatment.

Community Support

We believe that the well-being of a companion animal is best served by being in a loving home. We support community efforts to enable people to keep their pets and provide the necessary assistance.
